Introduction
Welcome to the Manse Valley Community Association website!
This site was created to present the facts about the land located at Manse Rd. and Lawrence Ave. E. in Scarborough, Ontario. This land is now being slated for a housing development, against the wishes of the area residents who consider this property vital to the health of the community.
The residents have been fighting for years to have the zoning on the land changed to designate it as a park/greenspace, but to no avail. Deputations to the city, meetings with city representatives and numerous letters have failed to convince the city officials that the development proposal for this land is inappropriate.
On this site you will find information on the site and the surrounding community, as well as slide shows to let you see why this property needs to be protected.
We need your support. Letters to the mayor and the councillors telling them to protect the land will help. We have included a "Contacts List" with the mailing address and the email address for the city officials.
There may also be a requirement for us to go forward to the OMB (Ontario Municipal Board), but this could be an expensive proposition. If you have ideas on fundraising, we would like to hear from you. If you wish to make a contribution, that would be greatly appreciated.
